
Christof Lützel, born in Mannheim in 1964, holds a banking management degree and is an authorized signatory. He is responsible for the Networks department at the socially and ecologically oriented GLS Bank, headquartered in Bochum. From November 1999 to July 2020, Christof Lützel served as press spokesperson and head of public relations at GLS Bank. He is a trained organizational and development consultant with Trigon.
Between 2005 and 2019, Christof Lützel was an elected employee representative on the Supervisory Board of GLS Bank. Between 2013 and 2019, he was a member of the Credit Committee of the Supervisory Board of GLS Bank and its Chairman for three years. Since January 2020, Christof Lützel has been a member of the Trust Circle, the name given to the "Works Council" of GLS Bank.
Since 2003 he has been the coordinator of the anthroposophically oriented press and public relations workers in Germany and Switzerland as well as board member and treasurer of the association "Öffentlich Wirken eV" founded in 2017. Since December 2020 he has also been a board member of one of the largest Waldorf schools in Germany, the Rudolf Steiner School Bochum Langendreer.
Before joining GLS Bank, Christof Lützel worked for the Robert Bosch Stiftung Stuttgart for nine years: initially as a research associate at the University of Tübingen, later as a project manager in the Department of International Relations. In addition to his studies in Marburg, he worked as a staff member and tutor at the Otto Benecke Stiftung Bonn from 1987 to 1989, heading the Marburg branch.
Christof Lützel attended the French Waldorf School in Strasbourg for seven years and then moved to Freiburg, where he obtained his Abitur and studied political science, public law/European law and contemporary history at the universities of Marburg, Paris and Tübingen (where he received a Magister Artium degree).
He was a research associate at the European Centre for Federalism Research in Tübingen for three years and a lecturer in social and civics studies at two technical colleges and training centers in Stuttgart for five years.
Christof Lützel is married, has an 11-year-old daughter and has lived in Bochum for 24 years.
