
Silvia Winkler is an economist and an expert on sustainability in business and finance. Fair trade, fair finance, and forward-looking business practices are issues she has long been involved with and for which she is actively engaged in a variety of ways and on various committees.
A native of Frankfurt, she heads the Frankfurt regional office of the socially and environmentally conscious GLS Bank and, as a spokesperson, draws attention to the sustainability of our actions and our relationship with money.
After completing her banking training and earning a degree in economics, she worked at various financial institutions, including a long stint as head of human resources at the private bank Hauck & Aufhäuser and as managing director of the Hessian branch of the international development organization Oikocredit.
Silvia Winkler has been volunteering in the fair trade sector for over 20 years, including as a member of the steering committees for the Fairtrade Towns initiatives in Frankfurt and Gelnhausen.
